Great food tells a story. Our Head Chef, Greig Young, consciously crafts menus that reflect our guests tastes and awareness for our environment. From vegan dishes created with sustainably sourced regional produce to heritage dishes that minimise our food waste; this is at the heart of all we do at The Northgate, Bury St Edmunds.
Delight in The Taste of East Anglia - our Chef's choice of small plates, where each dish is inspired by locally sourced produce; be amused by our take on the traditional afternoon tea; or simply relax and graze from our surprising bar snack menu.
As with our food, we want to ensure we are considerate of our guests varying tastes when it comes to drinks. We hope you agree that our diverse wine list, wide-ranging gin collection and beautifully crafted cocktail list - including the low alcohol and alcohol free - do just that.
Our menus will be a little smaller on reopening but they will still be packed full of flavour and your favourite dishes. We will have contactless ordering and payment options available, but we are also happy to take your orders personally from a safe distance.
The number of guests we can accommodate will be lower so we encourage you to make a reservation, however we will happily welcome you without a booking if we can safely seat you.
Our menu pricing has been adjusted to take into consideration the reduction in the rate of VAT and the Covid-19 impact.
We want to create a fantastic experience for each of our guests. With this in mind, we ask that you let us know of any dietary requirements when you reserve your table.
We are proud to be home to the only ‘Chef’s Table’ in Bury St Edmunds. Experience the best seat in the house, soaking up the atmosphere of a busy kitchen whilst watching the Chef and his team put their passion and skills to work.
Our 'Chef's Table' seats up to 12 guests, so gather friends, family and colleagues for an exciting and engaging foodie experience!
